An action packaged Gameweek 5 brought plenty of discussion points in the early part of the Premier League season. Despite defending resiliently, Arsenal were cruelly denied a vital win at Man City when John Stones netted deep into added time. Chelsea and Liverpool both won comfortably, with wins also for Fulham, Spurs and Aston Villa. Forest and Brighton played out a high-tempered draw, with Danny Welbeck’s freekick amongst the pick of the goals.

Man City v Arsenal Highlights
It was heartbreak for Arsenal in a blockbuster clash against Man City at the Etihad Stadium. Haaland gave City the lead, calmly slotting past David Raya, but Arsenal soon replied with a stunning goal from new signing Riccardo Calafiori. The visitors took the lead on the stroke of halftime with Gabriel heading home, but were soon reduced to 10 men when Leandro Trossard was sent off for kicking the ball away. Arsenal held firm throughout the second half but City found a way through when John Stones scored a dramatic equaliser in the 98th minute.

Brighton v Nottingham Forest Highlights
Brighton and Forest shared the spoils in a fiery clash at the AMEX Stadium which saw both managers sent to the stands. The visitors took the lead in the 13th minute through a Chris Wood penalty after a clumsy challenge on Hudson-Odoi in the box. Brighton equalised through Jack Hinshelwood and took the lead soon after from a superb Danny Welbeck freekick. However, Ramón Sosa popped up to maintain Forest’s unbeaten start to the season.
Both managers were sent off when Morgan Gibbs-White saw red for a feisty challenge on Joao Pedro.
West Ham v Chelsea Highlights
Chelsea backed up their 1-0 at Bournemouth last weekend with an impressive 3-0 win at London rivals West Ham. The visitors took the lead in the third minute when Nicolas Jackson was played in by Jadon Sancho before calmly slotting past Alphonse Areola. More criminal defending from West Ham allowed the Senegalese, Jackson, to run through and double Chelsea’s lead before Cole Palmer sealed a convincing win in the second half for the visitors.
Liverpool v Bournemouth Highlights
Liverpool bounced back from their surprise 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest last time out by beating Bournemouth by three goals to nil. The visitors played well in the first half but found themselves a goal down when Luis Dias took advantage of Kepa charging off his line to open the scoring for the Reds. The Colombian winger doubled the hosts’ lead just two minutes later, before Darwin Nunez sealed the victory with a spectacular left foot curling shot.

Brennan Johnson gave the hosts the lead with a right foot shot drilled into the bottom corner before Maddison dinked over Flekken late on to seal the victory for Spurs.

Palace’s keeper denied Garnacho and De Ligt, before the Argentine and Bruno Fernades both hit the bar. Andre Onana produced an impressive double save to deny Eddie Nketiah and Ismaila Sarr. The Saints got off to a good start with academy graduate Tyler Dibling scoring his first goal for the club when played through by Adam Lallana.
